Road vehicle-Masses-Vocabulary and codes

1 Scope

This Standard defines terms and codes for masses of road vehicles as defined in ISO 3833, with the exclusions indicated below, where these road vehicles are in condition as first manufactured; they may be complete road vehicles or otherwise. The codes are intended to be used for the exchange of vehicle data and electronic processing.
This Standard does not cover the following vehicles:

— Specially designed vehicles for uses other than the transport of passengers and/or goods;
— Motorcycles and mopeds, which are covered by ISO 6726; and

— Towed caravans, which are covered by ISO 7237.

This Standard does not specify measuring procedures, units to be used or tolerances.

2 Normative references

The following standard contains provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this Standard. At the time of publication, the edition indicated was valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below.
