This standard specifies the terms and definitions, general requirements, tests and requirements for vehicle diagnostic connectors.
This standard is applicable to the connectors for external diagnostic equipment of the vehicles in Categories M and N.

For the purpose of this document, the terms and definitions given in QC/T 417.1 and the following apply.

diagnostic connector
a hot-pluggable connector intended for establishing short-term communication between the vehicle and the external diagnostic equipment, and consisting of two parts, i.e., the connector socket at the vehicle side and the connector plug at the external diagnostic equipment side
