1 SCOPE

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, package, transportation and storage of automobile dry friction clutch assembly (including lid assembly and driven plate assembly, hereinafter referred to as “clutch”).
This standard applies to automobile dry friction clutches.

2 NORMATIVE REFERENCES

The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (corrigenda excluded) to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. 3 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Release travel
Under specified work conditions, the release finger (rod) travel from complete connection to complete release.
3.2 Release load
The load on the release finger (rod) end of the lid assembly.
3.3 Lift
Under the specified release travel, the minimum displacement of all points on the work surface of the pressure plate.
