3 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this standard, the terms and definitions given in GB 4599, GB 4785 and GB 15766.1 apply.
4 REVERSING LAMPS OF DIFFERENT TYPES
Lamps which differ in such essential respects as,
– The trade name or mark;
– The characteristics of the optical system (light level, light distribution angle, categories of filament lamps or types of light source module);
But, the color of filament lamps and lens should have no impact on type change.
5 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
5.1 General requirement: Reversing lamps shall be so designed and constructed that in normal use, despite the vibration to which they may then be subjected, they continue to function satisfactorily and retain the characteristics prescribed by this Standard.
5.2 Within the field as shown in Figure 1, the color of light emitted from the reversing lamps should be white and its photometric characteristics should conform to the prescriptions of GB4785. Outside this field no appreciable variation in color shall be observed.
5.3 The reversing lamp with replaceable light sources shall be of the filament lamp in conformity of GB 15766.1 or equivalent international standards.
5.4 Light source module
5.4.1 Light source module should be mounted in the right position even in the darkness.
5.4.2 Special structure or fixed placement is required for light source module, to make it steady.
5.5 Photometric performance
5.5.1 The minimum luminous intensity of the reversing lamps along the axis of reference and beyond in different directions shall not be less than the figures (in cd) as shown in Figure 1.
5.5.2 In the case where the reversing lamps are intended to be installed on a vehicle exclusively in a pair of devices, the photometric intensity may be verified only up to an angle of 30° inwards (where a photometric value of 25 cd as shown in Figure 1). 5.5.3 The maximum luminous intensity measured in any direction in and above plane H-H shall not exceed 300 cd, and in directions below the h-h plane down to -5º, the maximum luminous intensity shall not exceed 600 cd and 8,000 cd below -5º.
5.5.4 Within the field as shown in Figure 1, no appreciable partial variation in luminous intensity shall be noticeable, namely, the luminous intensity measured between any two directions shall not be 50% less than the values measured in such two directions, whichever is smaller.
Figure 1 Scope of lighting intensity distribution
5.5.5 In the case of a single lamp containing more than one light source, the lamp shall comply with the minimum intensity required when any one light source has failed, and when all light sources are operated, the maximum intensity shall not be exceeded.
6 TEST METHODS
6.1 The test enclosure, equipments and devices shall comply with the prescriptions of GB 4599.
6.2 The standard filament lamps of relevant types shall be used for photometric measurements which shall be carried out under the prescribed condition for luminous flux testing. In the case where the requirements are not met, the use of filament lamps of another standard may be permitted for retesting.
6.3 Prior to the photometric measurements, the light sources shall be activated at the test voltage, to obtain an approximately stable photometric performance.
6.4 In the case of reversing lamps equipped with non-replaceable light sources, measurements shall be made at a power supply of 13.5 V or 28.0 V respectively.
6.5 In the case of reversing lamps with more than one light resource:
6.5.1 for reversing lamps with non-replaceable light sources or other light sources:
If necessary, the manufacturer may be asked to provide the power supply solely designed for the light sources, and the measurements shall be performed at the test voltage as prescribed by the manufacturer.
6.5.2 For reversing lamps with replaceable light sources:
When equipped with filament lamps at 13.5 V or 28.0 V, the luminous intensity values produced shall be corrected. The correction factor is the ratio between the reference luminous flux and the mean value of the luminous flux found at the voltage applied (13.5 V or 28.0V). The actual luminous fluxes of each filament lamp used shall not deviate more than ± 5 percent from the mean value. Alternatively a standard filament lamp may be used in turn, in each of the individual positions, operated at its reference flux, the individual measurements in each position being added together.
6.6 The distance for photometric measurements shall be such that the inverse square law in photometry can be used.
6.7 When observing from the reference center of lamps, the receiver of the measuring equipment shall be set at an angle between 10’ and 1°.
6.8 When measuring from any direction as shown in the Figure above, the angle deviation shall not exceed 15’.
6.9 The reference axis (as declared by the manufacturer) shall be of the reference for the measurement.
6.10 The standard illuminant A (color temperature 2856K) shall be used for chromaticity test. In the case of reversing lamps with non-replaceable light sources, measurement shall be made at 13.5 V or 28.0 V.
7 TEST PROCEDURES
7.1 The types of reversing lamps shall be determined in accordance with paragraph 4 of this Standard.
7.2 The reversing lamp shall be subject to type approval and verification of the conformity of production. The products are approved for type approval and the conformity of production, if meeting the provisions in Para. 7.3 or 7.4.
7.3 Type approval
7.3.1 The manufacturer shall supply:
7.3.1.1 Drawings, in triplicate, in sufficient detail to permit identification of the type of the reversing lamp and showing the reference axis (H=0°, V=0°), the reference center and the possible geometrical mounting position(s) on the vehicle;
7.3.1.2 A brief technical instruction. Except for the reversing lamps with non-replaceable light sources, the types of filament lamps to be used shall be prescribed;
7.3.1.3 Two sample lamps (for the reversing lamp with replaceable light sources, including filament lamps).
7.3.2 Each sample shall comply with the specifications set forth in 5.1 and 5.3 and 5.4 of this Standard.
7.3.3 In the event of the test conducted according to paragraph 6 of this Standard, each sample shall be in compliance with the requirements of 5.2, and 5.5 of this Standard.
7.4 Verification of the Conformity of Production
7.4.1 For products type-approved, samples of lamps shall be selected at random from the production of a uniform batch, to verify the conformity of production.
7.4.2 The sample lamps selected at random shall comply with the requirements of 5.1 and 5.3 and 5.4.
7.4.3 When being tested in accordance with paragraph 6 of this Standard, the randomly selected samples shall conform to the specifications set forth in 5.2.
7.4.4 When being tested in accordance with paragraph 6 of this Standard, the randomly selected samples shall conform to the specifications set forth in 5.5, and:
7.4.4.1 The minimum luminous intensity shall be not less than 80% as prescribed in 5.5.1.
7.4.4.2 The maximum luminous intensity shall be not greater than 120% as prescribed in 5.5.3.
